Character Padding

Character padding is similar in concept to Cell Indenting (above) but in this case, a character (usually space) is prepended to the cell value to visually indent it relative to its parent.

Pretty much everything we said about cell indent applies to Character Padding, with the exception of having built-in menu buttons to increase or reduce indent.

Here is a simple example of data using Character Padding indenting, before and after grouping by TreeWiz:

Note for illustration purposes, the pad character has been set to a greater than sign “>” to make it visible for the before and after screenshots.
